Crescent Moon

This image was taken to test my 6 inch Maksutov for planetary imaging, and this was first light for that scope. Like the result.

Total Lunar Eclipse

On June 15 a very long total lunar eclipse took place, which was in parts also visible from Austria. Here are three snapshots I was able  to take with the 3.5 inch Maksutov (the 6 inch was used for visual observation by mself and our guests at the
NOe Sternwarte.)

 during totality at 22:41 CEST
end of totality at 23:10 CEST

Solar Structures and bad seeing

Several days after the lunar eclipse I tried to do some evening solar imaging. The seeing was very bad, therefore the image of the structures and the spot are very bad.

IC 1396 - Elephant's trunk

IC 1396 is not the catoalogue ID of the Elephant's Trunk Nebula. It actually the designation of a star cluster with nebulosity, where the elephant's trunk is only a part of this nebulosity. The image shows only the central part of this large nebulosity complex, which spans nearly three degrees in each direction [1]. Therefore the image below shows only the central part (about 1  x 0.7 degrees).
